Caminos del Inca, the most important rally in Peru, finally arrived in Cusco, after a vibrant Stage 04 and Special 08, which was run from Abancay to the ancient Historical Capital of Peru.
The Plaza Mayor of Cusco was the main scene of the reception of the pilots, who one by one arrived at the checkered flag, amidst the cheers and applause of all the fans of the irons.
Thousands of locals and tourists gathered in this old square to see the competitors in the all-wheel drive, light all-wheel drive, rally3, rally 4 and rally 5 categories, who arrived at this point exhausted but happy to complete one of the most demanding stages of the entire competition.
It is worth mentioning that the Abancay – Cusco section had the game reversed, so the last one in the classification started first. and the last to leave was the Castro Yangali Team with Eduardo Castro. Because of this, it was the day that saw the most overtaking in four days of racing.
At the moment the Castro Yangali Team remains at the top of the classification, with an advantage of 13:11 minutes over Raúl Velit, and more than 24 minutes over the third, André Martínez.
“The rain almost cost us, that’s why we came calmly as we have been doing, managing the times. We weren’t expecting rain, but it’s part of the race. The good thing is that we are already in Cusco”, Eduardo Castro was quoted by different media upon his arrival in the Imperial City.
On Friday there is a closed park at the IST Túpac Amaru facilities in Cusco, where the cars will be repaired and conditioned for the fifth and penultimate stage of Caminos del Inca 2024.
