The Piurano and supreme judge, Roberto Burneo Bermejo, was elected as representative of the Judicial Branch before the National Election Jury (JNE) and at the same time head of the aforementioned institution for the period 2024 -2028.
Burneo’s election was carried out unanimously among the members of the Supreme Court of Justice. The new head of the JNE will fulfill his duties between November 21 of this year and November 2028.

The magistrate of the Judicial Branch will replace the supreme magistrate, Jorge Luis Salas Arenas, in this position. In addition, the first electoral challenge will be the organization of the next General Elections 2026.
Burneo Bermejo graduated in Law from the University of Piura (UDEP) and has a doctorate in Administrative Law from the University of La Coruña.
