Venezuela rejects veto of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry in the Brics

Venezuela maintains that Iran has invoked its right to self-defense

Through a statement, Venezuela thanked the president of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, for inviting President Nicolás Maduro to attend the Brics Summit in the city of Kazan.

However, in the statement rejects the veto carried out by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, represented by Ambassador Eduardo Paes Saboia, to prevent the entry of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela into the organization, when it had the support of the other members of the alliance.

The document specifies that Ambassador Paes Saboia, “decided to maintain the veto that Bolsonaro applied to Venezuela for years, reproducing the hatred, exclusion and intolerance promoted from Western power centers to prevent, for now, the entry of Bolívar’s Homeland to this organization, in an action that constitutes an aggression against Venezuela and a hostile gesture that adds to the criminal policy of sanctions that have been imposed against a brave and revolutionary people, like the Venezuelan people.”

Below is the text of the statement:

Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela

Release

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela thanks the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, his government and the heroic Russian people, for the invitation extended to President Nicolás Maduro Moros to participate in the BRICS+ Summit in Kazan.

Venezuela, possessor not only of the largest energy reserve in the world, but also a banner of the values, principles and vision of building a fair, multicentric and pluripolar world, has had the backing and support of the countries participating in this summit to the formalization of their entry into this integration mechanism.

But through an action that contradicts the nature and postulate of the BRICS, the representation of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry (Itamaraty), led by ambassador Eduardo Paes Saboia, decided to maintain the veto that Bolsonaro applied to Venezuela for years, reproducing hatred, the exclusion and intolerance promoted from Western power centers to prevent, for now, the entry of Bolívar’s Homeland into this organization, in an action that constitutes an aggression against Venezuela and a hostile gesture that adds to the criminal policy of sanctions that have been imposed against a brave and revolutionary people, like the Venezuelan people.

Venezuela graces the global South and East with its firmness in the defense of self-determination and sovereign equality of States. No ruse or maneuver conceived against Venezuela will stop the course of history. A new world is born! Venezuela is part of this free world without hegemonism.

The Venezuelan people feel indignation and shame at this inexplicable and immoral aggression by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry (Itamaraty), maintaining the worst of Jair Bolsonaro’s policies against the Bolivarian Revolution founded by Commander Hugo Chávez.

This historic summit for a new world of peace, justice and shared development has been a resounding success. We congratulate President Putin and his government for their extraordinary contributions, in the words of El Libertador Simón Bolívar, to universal balance.

Caracas, October 24, 2024.
