He lawyer for the driver of the presidential ‘box’, Jesús Poma was summoned by the Congressional Oversight and Comptroller Commission to participate in a fourth extraordinary session next Wednesday, October 30. The lawyer must detail his client’s actions with the vehicle that transports the head of state, Dina Boluarte.
“Please report on the following topic: Statements made in a journalistic medium regarding the Lexus brand vehicle (…) which is at the disposal of the Presidency of the Republic, and which was driven by the PNP non-commissioned officer Félix Montalvo Guevara, the “February 24 and 25,” the summons reads.
Previously, on October 2, Montalvo Guevara had already been summoned by the same Commission, however, he was unable to attend. Regarding the reasons, the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñezhe explained, it was for a “security” issue.
This caused outrage from the defense of the PNP non-commissioned officer, who described Santiváñez’s measure as “illegal obstruction.”
“It is an illegal obstruction to the investigations that we are carrying out within the Oversight Commission. In accordance with the provisions of Article 16 of the Single Ordered Text of the Transparency Law, information expressly classified as reserved can only be when it is made available. endanger the national integrity, territorial integrity or the subsistence of the democratic system,” he stated.
