Venezuela denounces as "aggression" Brazil's veto for its entry into the Brics

Venezuela denounces Brazil’s veto of the Brics+ Summit, describing the measure as an aggression and perpetuation of exclusionary policies against the country for “maintaining the worst of Jair Bolsonaro’s policies against the Bolivarian Revolution founded by Hugo Chávez.”

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry issued an official statement this Thursday, October 24, in which it rejected the decision of the Brazilian representation, led by ambassador Eduardo Paes Saboia, to maintain the veto against Venezuela, preventing its formal incorporation into the Brics.

This veto, which according to Venezuela was originally applied during the administration of Jair Bolsonaro, was described as an aggression and a hostile act that «perpetuates hatred, exclusion and intolerance promoted from Western power centers».

«An action that constitutes an aggression against Venezuela and a hostile gesture that adds to the criminal policy of sanctions that have been imposed against a brave and revolutionary people, like the Venezuelan people.»says the letter.

The statement also extended gratitude to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, for the invitation extended to the Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, to participate in the Brics+ Summit in Kazan.

Venezuela highlighted its role as holder of the largest energy reserve in the world and its commitment to building a fairer, multicentric and pluripolar international order.

In the opinion of the Venezuelan delegation, the summit was a success in the search for a more balanced world and in the development of cooperative relations between the nations of the global South and East.
