Roberto Burneo is the new president of the National Election Jury

Unanimously, the Plenary Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice elected this afternoon the magistrate Roberto Burneo Bermejo as your representative before the National Election Jury (JNE).

Supreme Judge Burneo will consequently assume the presidency of the highest electoral body and will be responsible for organizing the general elections of April 2026, as well as the elections for the election of the new municipal and regional authorities.

Roberto Burneo Bermejo is from Piura, graduated from the University of Piura and is 47 years old. His judicial career began in 2022 when he was elected as supreme judge by the National Board of Justice.

He has also been legal advisor to the Ministry of Production between 2014 and 2016 and head of the Legal Advisory Office and legal consultant at the Civil Defense Institute (Indeci).

He currently presides over the Second Supreme Chamber of Constitutional and Social Law.
