In August, the Union’s oil production reached a new record of 89 thousand barrels per day (bpd). This total includes 84.29 thousand bpd from eight production sharing contracts and 5.14 thousand bpd from Production Individualization Agreements in the non-contracted areas of Tupi and Atapu. 
In the same period, the Union’s natural gas production also grew, reaching 182 thousand cubic meters per day, an increase of 3.8% compared to July. The data are from the Monthly Production Bulletin, published by Pré-Sal Petróleo (PPSA), linked to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the 4% increase compared to the previous month in oil production was driven by the operational return of the P-74 platform, in the Búzios field, after a scheduled maintenance stop. With this performance, the Union consolidates itself as the sixth largest oil producer in Brazil, maintaining a growth trajectory that, according to the bulletin, should intensify in the coming months.
Under the sharing regime, the Union is entitled to a portion of the oil and natural gas production from all tendered fields. There are currently 24 contracts signed on a sharing basis and eight of them are producing. In other words, the Union has the right to a portion of the production from each of these fields.
PPSA is the company that manages these contracts and is also the company that sells these installments.
Production sharing
Total production under sharing contracts remains stable at 1 million barrels of oil per day. There are eight contracts in production and the Búzios field remains the largest producer, with around 447 thousand bpd, followed by Mero (317 thousand bpd) and Sépia (97 thousand bpd).
Still in August, the production of natural gas available for export under a sharing regime was 3.97 million m³ per day. Búzios was the largest exporter with 3.42 million m³ per day, accounting for 84% of total production. Of this total, the Union was entitled to a production of 118 thousand m³ per day.
