From the squad that competed in Paris 2024, Croatian coach Aleksander Petrovic’s list included point guard Yago, who competes in the Serbian championship, and winger Meindl, currently in Japanese basketball. New to the pre-list is forward Samis Calderón, who plays for Auburn (United States).

– This list is made up of experienced athletes who were at the Olympic Games, by athletes who trained before the Pre-Olympics and Games. And also young people, to show the renewal process that must begin to find new faces for Los Angeles and beyond. I can’t count on everyone from Europe, like Yago, and Leo Meindl, who is in Japan, and will rest during this window, but it is important to have this mix that can achieve results and start a process of inserting new values for the future – said Petrovic, in a statement to CBB.

Brazil leads Group B and can qualify in Belém if they win both matches at home. The last two knockout matches will be in February 2025, again against Uruguay and Panama.
