The ATTT reaffirms its commitment to safer public transportation by remembering the victims of October 23

Today, October 23, we remember with deep respect the victims of the tragic accident involving bus 8B-06, in the La Cresta sector. This date, marked by pain, has become a call to action to improve safety in our public transportation system.
“Under this new administration, we reaffirm our commitment to work tirelessly for a safer, more efficient and accessible public transportation system for all,” said Jorge Luis Abrego, general director of the Land Transit and Transportation Authority (ATTT).
“The ATTT has outlined a clear roadmap towards modernization. Through strategic initiatives, we are strengthening our processes, optimizing our human resources and, above all, strengthening ties with citizens,” Abrego added.
Among the main advances of the ATTT are:
Regulations update: The regulations for public transport routes and lanes have been reviewed, improving attention to user complaints.
National inspections: Inspections have been coordinated at the national level to verify the operation of public transportation and, in collaboration with Metro Bus, route extensions have been explored to improve connectivity.
Judicial coordination: The coordination of traffic courts has progressed in the creation of second instance courts and in updating the Traffic Regulations, in addition to implementing technologies that optimize judicial management. A pilot test of automatic dictation seeks to reduce the time in issuing resolutions.
User Defense: The Department of User Defense – 311 has launched a daily productivity reporting program, improving attention to citizen complaints and optimizing response times.
Signaling and maintenance: Road signaling and the maintenance of traffic light systems have been prioritized, addressing more than 300 incidents and controlling the weight of freight vehicles to protect infrastructure.
Technological update:
• Pilot project for the digitalization of vehicle procedures.
• Electronic ticket office
• Photomulta
• Digital license
• Identification card with QR code
Osiris Gratacós, director of Road Education and User Defense of the ATTT, expressed: “Road safety is a national priority. We firmly believe that every life is valuable and that we all have the right to move safely. “We will continue working with all actors in the sector to achieve public transportation that is a source of pride for our country.”
The CEO also stated that, on this day of commemoration, ATTT renews its commitment to moving towards a safer future. “The actions carried out and the work route demonstrate this commitment to road safety throughout the country,” he said.
