Within the framework of the celebrations for the 176th anniversary of the founding of Aguadulce, the inauguration of the Aguadulce 2024 Agroindustrial and Commercial Exhibition took place, an event that brought together entrepreneurs, artisans and local authorities, consolidating the district as an epicenter of culture, tradition and economic development.
The event, which attracted thousands of visitors from all over the country, was chaired by Miss Aguadulce 2024, Gretel Martínez, along with directors of the Ministry of Culture (MiCultura).
Cristina de la Guardia, national director of Crafts, and Mirthia Borissoff, vice minister in charge of Women, participated in the inaugural ribbon cutting, who highlighted the value of artisanal work in the economic growth of the region.
One of the most anticipated moments was the opening of the Ministry of Culture’s artisan trail, where 20 local artisans had the opportunity to exhibit and market their products, promoting rural entrepreneurship and the preservation of traditional techniques.
During the day, MiCultura authorities, headed by Ivis Moreno and Gianni Bianchini, toured the pavilions, reinforcing the commitment to continue supporting these initiatives in the interior of the country.
In addition, the Stella Sierra Regional Museum was a key point of the celebrations. There, the traditional process of sea salt extraction was highlighted, an iconic activity of Aguadulce, and eight Panamanian films were screened as part of the “Cinema in your community” program.
Among the titles presented were Captain Wasp, Something Blue and Belisario Porras – Architect of a Nation, providing attendees with a diverse and quality cultural offering.
The 176th anniversary festivities not only celebrated the history of Aguadulce, but also served as a platform to promote entrepreneurship and traditions that enrich the Panamanian cultural landscape.
Raúl Castro and María del Pilar Dejanon, advisors to the Higher Office of MiCultura, also participated actively, reinforcing institutional support for these activities that promote the cultural and economic development of the region.
With a wide range of folklore activities, parades and cultural events, Aguadulce reaffirms its importance on the cultural map of Panama, uniting tradition and modernity in one place.
