Sellers of adulterated supplements will be notified

The National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) informed this Tuesday (22) that it will act to combat the sale of adulterated nutritional supplements. According to the agency, sellers and digital platforms that sell these products must provide clarifications.Sellers of adulterated supplements will be notified

“Products such as creatine, which are widely consumed, have levels well below those indicated, even reaching 0% in some cases. This scenario is alarming”, informed the president of the Brazilian Association of Nutritional Products Companies (Abenutri), Marcelo Bella, in a note released by Senacon. He shared with Senacon recent analyzes that detected irregularities in the supplements market.

The measure comes after a meeting of the National Council to Combat Piracy (CNCP), linked to Senacon, with the new board of the Federal Nutrition Council (CFN) and with Abenutri, to request information and identify adulterated nutritional supplements.

At the beginning of the month, Abenutri released the list of 18 brands of creatine sold on the market and which failed the association’s analysis.

In Senacon’s assessment, the sale of adulterated products represents a serious threat to public health and consumer rights.
