Zelensky reiterates that he is not negotiating entry into NATO in exchange for giving up the occupied territories

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyreiterated this Tuesday that he is not negotiating entry into NATO in exchange for give up territories temporarily occupied by Russia and reproaches that some partners are using the press to leak this type of information.

“We’re not talking about that.”has been settled in a meeting with Ukrainian media. He has assured that “it is not accidental” that these speculations appear in the press and he reproaches that some of his partners do not question him directly about it.

“Apparently, some partners may think this, but they do not let me know directly, but through the media,” said Zelensky, who is confident that “no one will recognize the occupied territories“as part of other States.

Zelensky has explained that Ukraine’s formal invitation to join the NATO “does not depend on Russia” and that, as established in the plan that it has been presenting in recent days to its partners, it is “fundamental” that it arrive during the war, as well as based on “internationally recognized borders.

Likewise, Zelensky has also conditioned a possible advance in the resolution from the conflict to improvements in energy and food security, or to increased pressure against Russian maritime traffic.
