On Monday night, members of the federal forces were moving to the outskirts of Culiacán on the highway to Sanalona, when near Carrizalejo they were attacked by armed civilians.
A shootout that lasted several minutes broke out in the Plan de Oriente community, also known as Ejido Doce, which is located east of Culiacán. The confrontation left 19 people dead.
The criminal cell that attacked the federal forces is part of the personal escort of “El Max”, who is identified by Sedena as one of the main generators of violence in Culiacán in recent weeks.

After the operation, in which a Black Hawk helicopter was used, soldiers seized a property, weapons, tactical equipment and vehicles that were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office.
