The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) approved this Tuesday (22) new authorizations to send federal military personnel to provide security at polling places in the second round of municipal elections, which will be held next Sunday (27).
With the decision, Manaus, Fortaleza and Caucaia (CE) will receive soldiers from the Armed Forces to guarantee the security of the election.
The sending of federal troops occurs when a municipality informs the Electoral Court that it does not have the capacity to guarantee the normality of the election with local police personnel. It is up to the Ministry of Defense to carry out the logistics of the operation.
In the first round, the TSE sent troops to 12 Brazilian states.
Next Sunday, 33.9 million voters from 15 capitals and 36 municipalities return to the polls to elect the mayors running for office. There is no second round for the race for the position of councilor.
