The Public Ministry reported on the arrest of the former Minister of Petroleum, Pedro Tellechea Ruiz, along with his closest collaborators, for the commission of serious crimes that threaten the interests of the country.
According to a statement published in account of the social network Instagram, the entity indicated that “in the early hours of yesterday, after an exhaustive scientific investigation, Pedro Tellechea Ruiz, along with his most immediate collaborators, was arrested for the commission of serious crimes that threaten the most high interests of the nation.”
“Among the different causes that follow, the delivery of the Automated Command and Control System, known as the brain of PDVSA, to a company controlled by the US intelligence services, thus violating all legal mechanisms and our national sovereignty” , adds the text.
The Public Ministry stressed that the actions carried out in the process were in strict accordance with the law, within the framework of defending the institutional integrity of the country.
On October 18, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the appointment of Alex Saab as the new Minister of Industry and National Production, a position that Tellechea held since August 27 of this year.
