President Luis Abinader assured yesterday that the exports nationals are growing, registering four years of figures record.
During La Semanal con la Prensa, he reported that in the period 2020-2023 the exports They generated 45,804.3 million dollars, growing 23.5% compared to 2016-2019, prior to the pandemic.
“For the first nine months of 2024, a growth (of) 30.4% in relation to that pre-pandemic period of 2019,” he stated.
He said that to date the country has 3,979 exporters of 2,974 products in more than 30 provinces, which are aimed at 156 markets.
Among the main achievements of the last four years, Abinader cited the modernization of the General Law of Customs to support the trade facilitationthe implementation of the first trade promotion plan with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex), the lifting of the impediment to products such as pitahaya, meats, sweet potatoes and coconut, to international markets. For her part, the executive director of the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana), Biviana Riveiro Disla, announced that there are more than 500 companies exporters led by womenwith average salaries of RD$ 34,651.
During 2023, the country was the first exporter of cigars to the world, the first exporter of rum to Spain and of circuit breakers to the United States and of ostomy use instruments to the United States and the world. Likewise, it was the second exporter of pineapples to Israel, the third exporter of avocado to the US and bananas to the United Kingdom.
