Celso Amorim is against Venezuela’s entry into the Brics

Lula da Silva's advisor insists on suggesting Venezuela repeat elections

Celso Amorim highlighted that the member countries of the BRICS must carefully study who will enter the bloc because they must be nations “that really contribute.”

Celso Amorim, special advisor to the president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, expressed on Monday, October 21, his rejection of Venezuela joining the Brics group, since in his opinion this type of process should be carried out more slow.

“I do not defend the entry of Venezuela. I think you have to go slowly. It makes no sense to fill it with countries, otherwise a new G-77 will soon be created,” Amorim said in an interview with cnn.

Lula’s advisor stressed the importance of conscientiously studying the entry of new members of the Brics by stating that they are countries that really contribute to the bloc, that is, that the incorporations are “strategic.”

“Remember that the world is currently experiencing wars with the potential to become world wars. So, the admission criterion is more important than the country itself,” said Celso Amorim.
