The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, relaunched from his program ‘With Maduro +’ the project of the University of the Communes within the framework of the commemoration of the 12 years of the Coup of Rudder, announced by Commander Hugo Chávez in October 2012.
The president reflected on the training that this educational institution should provide, which should be aimed at training leaders in each of the communities.
“Training for this empowerment must begin with children, in schools, in high schools,” which is why the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of University Education were included in this work team.
“We must build socialism territorially, but let it start, not become bureaucratic. Before creating a new bureaucracy, it is necessary to define the project well. A university of the communes to train citizens,” he noted.
The Minister of Communes, Ángel Prado, said that the nuclei of this University of the Communes must operate “based on the needs that the communities have… in the commune we should train on the issue of cryptocurrencies… have political science as a transversal axis , philosophy, political economy, resource administration, comptrollership, productive issues.”
The Minister of Education Héctor Rodríguez highlighted that “despite the sanctions, in Venezuela it is still possible to train in higher education for free… There are two dimensions to work on, one, the training of the community task; Addressing this task requires systematization of best practices to share them with less advanced Communes.”
For his part, the Minister of University Education Ricardo Sánchez said that “the university is the one that has to be reviewed and not the commune, the university has to go to the commune. We have an education that is the envy of the continent.”
President Maduro celebrated the relaunch of the University of the Communes, as a “leadership training center for community members. “We are preparing a national headquarters,” he said.
