More than a ton of cocaine was seized this Monday (21) in the Port of Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. The seizure was the largest in 2024, jointly reported by the Federal Revenue Service and the Federal Police, the bodies responsible for the operation.
The operation seized 1,201kg of cocaine, found during a Federal Revenue inspection in a shipment of scrap that was destined for Spain.
The drug, according to the IRS, was found in metal boxes amid a shipment of 24 tons of scrap, making inspection difficult.
During the inspection, the IRS had the support of two sniffer dogs. Scanner images of the five containers, which were destined for the Port of Málaga, in Europe, were also analyzed.
The Federal Police Station in Santos opened a police investigation to investigate the materiality and authorship of the crime of international drug trafficking.
