the leader pedeista stated that the government of Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) was elected to solve the country’s problems, but in almost two years he continues to make excuses, and does not propose solutions that allow the population to eat at affordable prices.
He reiterated that the government has no real intention of placing prices at levels left by the PLDafter pointing out that a poor family could buy RD$10 of oil, because before half a gallon cost RD$130 and now it sells for 340 pesos.
Leyba said that a pound of chicken went from RD$37 to RD$80, that of beans from RD$35 to RD$75, the unit of bread went up from 5 to 8 pesos, that of an egg from four to 8 pesos, a bag of milk in powder from RD$35 to RD$70 and a bottle of water from 40 to 80 pesos.
He indicated that the population feels unprotected, because the current authorities have refused to implement the strategies used by the PLD when this type of international crisis arrived, which places commodities and raw materials at high levels.
The merchant and politician pointed out that the PLD knew how to shield the basket basic, so that the population with fewer resources would not feel those international effects.
He recalled that when he was deputy minister of Industry and Commerce during the PLD governments, it was negotiated and agreed with the trade, the official sector subsidized and negotiated with the distribution chain that reduced its profit margins and a dynamic of subsidies of the basic basket was made so that there was no suffering at the table of the Dominicans.
