President Mulino swears in 658 new police officers

The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, swore in this Friday 658 new agents of the National Police, graduates of classes 99 and 100 of the Presidente Belisario Porras Higher Police Institute (ISPOL).

The group consists of 552 men and 106 women, trained for one year in police procedures and in an academic system based on competencies, treatment of the public, strengthening ethics and conduct, and respect for human rights.

They all obtained Higher Technician diplomas in Public Security, in a ceremony held in the Plaza de Armas of ISPOL, in Gamboa.

During the event, President Mulino presented the decorations to the first places: agents Wilfredo Pimentel, Leonardo Hernández and Alán Pérez, from class 99 (Legionarios); and the agents Antony Saldaña, Verónica Pimentel and Mario Staples Cáceres, from the 100 (Centenarios) promotion.

He emphasized to the new agents the challenges they will face in defending order and social peace, and in their fight against organized crime and drug trafficking. He also thanked the family members, because they are giving their sons and daughters to be servants of the Homeland. “In your life you will encounter complicated moments, moments of fear and some temptations,” the president said in his speech. “Do not give in to temptation, do not give in to the easy life. Do not fall for the siren songs that reach your ears to betray your oath,” he added.

During the event, the president was accompanied by the Ministers of Public Security, Frank Ábrego; of Commerce and Industries, Julio Moltó; and the general director of the National Police, Jaime Fernández.
Members of the board of directors of the security establishments and special guests were also present.

Since its formation through Executive Decree No. 50 of March 23, 1999, ISPOL has graduated more than 27 thousand police officers in the service of the Homeland. Now, the graduates of the new promotions 99 (Legionarios) and 100 (Centenarios) will reinforce the security forces of the State in order to meet the security goals set by the Mulino administration.
