Through a statement, the businessmen made a strong call to President Dina Boluarte, demanding her immediate intervention to guarantee the safety and protection of the 33 million Peruvians against organized crime, extortion and the collection of quotas that afflict them.
The emporium, which has been a key driver for entrepreneurship and job creation, has suffered the consequences of crime, which has paralyzed its business development.
Therefore, Gamarra merchants announced a stoppage of activities next Wednesday, October 23 from 7 am to 2 pm, and they called for a peaceful march that will start from the emporium to the Government Palace.
What do Gamarra’s businessmen demand?
Among the main demands, the businessmen demand the declaration of emergency for the district of La Victoria, which would allow the support of the Army in patrol work, in addition to the reorganization of the Apolo police station, beginning with the immediate change of the commissioner, and the replacement of the Minister of the Interior.
