Number of municipalities with a single candidate for mayoral office doubles

The 2nd round of municipal elections will take place next Sunday (27), in 51 cities across the country. And, once again, voting times will be unified. As in the first round, which took place on October 6th, the time adopted will be Brasília, from 8am to 5pm.Voting in the 2nd round of elections will also have a unified schedule

Therefore, voters in Campo Grande, Cuiabá, Manaus and Porto Velho, cities with different time zones than Brasília, must pay attention to voting times. In these four capitals, the polls will be open from 7am to 4pm local time; one hour before Brasília time.

The counting of votes will begin at 5 pm, following the time zone of the federal capital, shortly after voting closes. However, voters who are still in line at that time will have the right to vote.

This is the first time that a municipal election has been held with a unified schedule throughout Brazil. The measure had already been applied in the 2022 general elections.

The 2nd round for the position of mayor will be held in 15 capitals and in another 36 municipalities. There are more than 33 million voters eligible to vote.
