Ortega and Murillo blame the US for blackouts in Cuba that generate protests against the Castro dictatorship

The dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo once again blamed the United States for the serious energy crisis that Cuba is experiencing with blackouts throughout the island for three consecutive days, which has generated unrest in the population that is experiencing small outbreaks of protest that have been repressed. by the Castro regime of Miguel Díaz Canel.

«We are facing another direct consequence of the brutal imperialist blockade Yankee“, whose fundamental interest has been and is, to create all the inconveniences for Cuban families, from abuses and aggressions in all fields of life, aggravating the crises that for more than 62 years have been imposed as a mechanism of dominance and subordination,” says the statement issued by Nicaragua.

The Cuban dictatorship recognized through the Ministry of Energy and Mines that the island’s electrical system is obsolete, the thermoelectric plants have been in operation for four decades and have a chronic lack of investment. Minister Vicente de la O Levy stated that the situation in the country is “tense” since the drinking water service is also cut off, as it requires electric pumps to distribute the liquid on the island.

Faced with the serious situation, hundreds of residents of the neighborhoods of Havana blocked the passage of streets and highways, in addition to marching with the slogan “no to communism” on Sunday night; However, hours later, the heir to the Castro regime, Miguel Díaz Canel, took advantage of a few hours of energy that same night to send a television message.

“We are not going to accept or allow anyone to act with vandalism, much less disturb the tranquility of our people,” said Díaz-Canel, who appeared dressed in a military uniform to deliver the message to the nation. The message was also published by the government on the social network X.

dozens of youtubers and influencers Cubans have echoed the situation that the island is experiencing, such as the channel Anita Mateo and Soy Klaudia who have recounted what it is like to live more than 48 hours without energy or drinking water. Content creators have taken advantage of the few hours in which the service is restored to be able to post their content on social networks.

The NGO Justicia 11J reported this Monday in a statement that in the last three days, since the total blackout last Friday, at least 28 minor protests have been registered in seven provinces, although concentrated mainly in Havana. But this is not the first time, the protests of July 11, 2021, which were violently repressed by the Castro dictatorship, were due to constant power outages.

Added to the serious food, energy and health crisis that the island is experiencing is the passage of tropical storm “Óscar”, which has generated heavy rains in the southeast of the country and could further damage the power plants maintained by the Cuban regime. Neither Russia nor China have commented on the emergency situation that the Caribbean country is experiencing.
