PLD and FP happy with the ruling of the Constitutional Court

The Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and the People’s Force considered that the ruling of the Constitutional Court regarding the non-prohibition of advertising propaganda through the media during the pre-campaign, strengthens the Party system and freedom of expression .
Danilo Díaz, Secretary of Electoral Affairs of the PLD, assured that the resolution of the Central Electoral Board and the sentence of the TC recognize constitutional rights of the aspiring candidates for the different parties.

“I understand that it is a positive step forward, because the party system has to be strengthened, since the way to govern the country is through political parties, so that is a very important tool,” said Díaz.

The member of the Political Committee expressed that the JCE is accepting many of the proposals made by the PLD and other political parties, which strengthens the party system.

He considered that this period of aspirations cannot be curtailed, because it is during the same that the militants of a party can express their aspirations and try to promote themselves and conquer others, through their ideas; which is the raison d’être of political parties.

“Now, what can not be done: march, rally, billboards, these are already other scenarios that impact even visually and in the daily life of Dominicans, but the fact that I meet with militants is a constitutional right, In other words, what these two decisions have done is strengthen the party system,” he added.

The PLD leader, Melanio Paredes, indicated that the Central Electoral Board is making more flexible, but that the ruling of the Constitutional Court comes to put the “touchstone”, it comes to confirm the PLD’s allegation, so that the candidates of the organization will be able to act with complete freedom without the restriction that they are violating the electoral regulations.

People’s Force
