“They say that there are protections and other ways that want to prevent voting for judges, magistrates and ministers, but there is nothing that is above the will of the people,” said the president during her visit to Yucatán.
Sheinbaum speaks out against the protections against the reform of the Judiciary, such as the one that orders the removal of the promulgation of said reform from the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), ordered by Judge Nancy Juárez Salas, of Veracruz.
“The Constitution has already been reformed and just like this, other actions such as keeping all welfare programs in the Constitution, all of this is thanks to the fact that the people voted on July 2 and made a decision that says ‘let’s continue with the Fourth Transformation,’” said the president.
The election of half of the positions of representatives of the Judiciary is scheduled for June 1, 2025.
Even 26 governors from the Morena, PT and PVEM coalition spoke out in defense, accusing the judges who have issued protections against the judicial reform of exceeding their functions.
The president signed an agreement to provide a universal pension to people with disabilities together with the governor of Yucatán, Joaquín Díaz Mena.
