JUBs 2024 comes to an end and leaves memories and lessons

JUBs 2024 comes to an end and leaves memories and lessons

Brasília hosted the biggest university competition in the history of Latin America. There were 12 days of competition for the 2024 edition of the Brazilian University Games (JUBs) in the federal capital. After a lot of effort, sweat and dedication from the athletes to reach the highest place on the podium, there are memories and lessons for each athlete’s next sporting commitments. But there are also the numbers.JUBs 2024 comes to an end and leaves memories and lessons

The 71st edition of the JUBs received more than 7 thousand participants from all states in the country and the Federal District. There were 31 sports, 18 hotels used, 13 competition venues and a total of 2,661 medals awarded throughout the event. The JUBs grew and had to be divided into two stages: the first week with individual modalities and the second, mostly with collective disputes.

The final result was celebrated by the Brazilian Confederation of University Sports (CBDU), but it demands even more for the next events. For the entity’s president, Luciano Cabral, the greater the demand, the better: “We usually say that our obligation is always to do bigger and better. The biggest thing has been natural, as we qualify the games, we work a lot at the base, in the state games, the state games become stronger, the delegations increase and the final quantity ends up being greater. Therefore, being bigger ends up being natural due to the quality of the process. This causes a problem in the final phase, which is the challenge of doing better. But we like challenges and plan to offer better conditions in all aspects, without forgetting technical conditions. We seek to greatly improve the sport’s offering, but also the structure, which is increasingly surprising.”

In addition to the accommodation, the competition venues, the circular transport routes around the city, the cafeteria, those who attended the Brazilian International Convention Center (CICB), the administrative headquarters of the JUBs Brasília 2024, also had access to the Athletes’ Boulevard. An area divided into two floors with 12 interactive sponsor stands, space for socializing and facilities such as an electric kart track. Open from 9am to 9pm, the place was a meeting point for athletes and was crowded between competitions.

“We created optimized logistics, allowing all event locations to be accessed within 20 minutes for athletes, teams and the public. The Athletes’ Boulevard, the main concentration point, brought together most of the sporting disciplines, providing a vibrant environment, full of sporting experiences, strategic activations of sponsoring brands and leisure moments. Among the highlights, we set up a hoverkart track to offer a different experience to participants. And, in partnership with the Government of the Federal District, we promote city tours, including balloon ride raffles. It was an edition marked by excellence in every detail”, stated CBDU’s logistics and marketing manager, Paulo Souza.

JUBs Brasília 2024 ended the cycle of university competitions in the country this year. In 2025, athletes will face the biggest university sporting challenge, the World University Games, which will be held in Germany between July 16th and 27th.
