Nutritionist José Ramiro López: ‘70% of the Panamanian population is overweight’

The president of the Healthy Panama Foundation and nutritionist, José Ramiro López, revealed this Wednesday on Radio Panama that, in our country, of the 10 leading causes of death, six are related to poor nutrition.

He added that 70% of the population is overweight, so the foundation carried out a challenge called “2022 without 22 pounds.”

“485 people participated in this challenge who put into practice eating plans made by nutritionists, we were looking for a change in behavior in their diet, we called it an alkaline diet and it was not only looking to control calories but also to remove those foods that are inflammatory from the diet “, he specified.
