Beginning the event, Ojeda expressed gratitude to those who, not being from the Colorado Party, have supported his candidacy and its growth. He recognized the work of key figures such as Zayda González, Pedro Bordaberry, Gustavo Osta and Gustavo Zubíawho play a decisive role leading the lists to the Senate. Ojeda emphasized the importance of collective effort for the victory of the party.
Ojeda insisted that they are at a crucial moment to change and renew the political landscape, giving himself a relevant place of importance. He recognized the “nervousness” in other political sectors due to the position that his candidacy has reached, which less than a year ago did not have the slightest chance of passing the first round.
A campaign founded on controversy
Ojeda’s campaign has been no stranger to controversies, especially his election ads that have drawn criticism for being considered unusual due to their format focused on gyms and pets. In response, Ojeda pointed out that the real discomfort of his adversaries lies in the possibility that the Colorado Party will win in both October and November.
He has also been surrounded by scandal over his alleged romantic relationship with businesswoman Kelsey Clay, who has been accused of being an exotic animal hunter in Africa. Ojeda has not confirmed that this relationship exists, although he publicly acknowledged that they know each other.
The closure of Ojeda’s campaign with Asian and Arab “militants”
In the midst of Ojeda’s complaints, the candidate made a live broadcast on YouTube from the event, and the presence of hundreds of comments from supposed militants who gave him their support did not go unnoticed, but with a small detail: some were from countries Arabs and others from Asia Pacific.
Some of the names of the users commenting even had their names in the Arabic alphabet, and were full of spelling errors. One of them, for example, wrote in the Armenian language. When translated into Spanish, it said: “The new president of Ojeda.”
Another in the Malay language, when translated into Spanish, said: “bot failure, try again.” The same phrase was repeated over and over again countless times, even by users who had names with Hebrew characters.
Indian, Arabic and Farsi names appeared like Asif Ali, Ishan Tiwari, Sihabpreet Singh, Santosh Chantu, Amla Hansa, Joshi Prashant, Rupali Deepamala, and many more.
Almost all of them had some type of grammatical or spelling error, with absurdly worded phrases such as “Andres and the colored party adore to be a better option to defeat the evil fake news”, “Ojeda predinte better new”, “Ojeda Andrés to be a person of honor to gornar pais , renew politics and end the leftist dictatorship” (these are literal transcripts), and countless other comments from bots and trolls that have every appearance of having been hired.
Ojeda celebrated the thousands of bots that saw his campaign close
Even with the obvious mass of fake accounts and comments generated from bot farms, Andrés Ojeda celebrated that “a stadium” watched his campaign close. “Thanks to the almost 40,000 people who connected live to our central campaign event,” commented the lawyer.
And he added: “A packed football stadium watched us live on YouTube. It is not the silent majority, it is the true digital revolution. The new policy is here to stay.” In any case, what Ojeda does not mention is that the fact that there are a certain number of views on a YouTube video, especially those broadcast live, does not mean that they were viewers who watched the video live but rather that it is the total views accumulated since it began to be broadcast until the current moment.
