Video surveillance cameras recorded the chase carried out by police sergeant Rafael Laureano de los Santos, known as «Cabito»against Wendel Alejandro Almonte Velozson of the communicator Alejandro Almonte, on the morning of Saturday the 12th, while he was traveling in his vehicle along Charles de Gaulle Avenue, in Santo Domingo Este.
In the video shared yesterday National Policeit is observed that the murderer chased his victim for at least two minutes, after an apparent friction at an intersection in the aforementioned municipality.
Later, the police officer, who works as an administrative driver for services, is captured holding a firearm in the hand. Also shown is the moment in which the attacker flees the crime scene aboard the motorcycle he was driving. Almonte Veloz died early on Sunday the 13th while receiving medical attention.
Investigation
According to what was reported by the uniformed spokesperson, Diego Pesqueirain this first phase of the investigation, the Public Ministry of the judicial district of the Santo Domingo province, together with members of the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) have deployed multiple actions that include raids, camera surveys, evidence analysis, forensic ballisticsas well as crime scene processing.
Pesqueira specified that the evidence collected by the representatives of the Public Ministry and forensic experts irrefutably demonstrate the direct connection of “Cabito” in the event described above.
“Both videos taken with the corresponding court orders, as well as interviews with eyewitnesses, point to the aforementioned as the author of the incident,” it was stated.
The National Police urged Rafael Laureano de los Santos to surrender by the means that he deems appropriate, so that he can respond for the act that he is accused of.
He guaranteed that in a timely manner, more details will be provided as the investigative process progresses.
