The Judiciary imposed 36 months of preventive detention against the former superintendent of Odebrecht in Peru, Jorge Baratafor the South Peruvian Gasoducto case. This case mainly involves former President Ollanta Humala and his wife Nadine Heredia, in addition to other defendants.
Judge Leodán Cristóbal Ayala of the Sixth National Preparatory Investigation Court of the National Superior Court of Specialized Criminal Justice reached this decision and declared the request of prosecutor Geovanna Mori of the Supraprovincial Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Crimes of Corruption of Officials founded.
The preventive detention against Barata “will begin once the accused is brought to justice and/or the authorities of the International Police (Interpol) or the judicial authority of the requested country, via Active Extradition, make the accused available to the National Court. with a precautionary prison order.”
As is known, Barata is going through this process for the crime of aggravated collusion in two works: Gasoducto Andino del Sur (Kuntur project) and Gasoducto Sur Peruano.
