The National Police reported this Wednesday on the arrest of 20 people in the last 48 hours, as a result of a preventive operation carried out by the Central Investigation Directorate (DICRIM) in several locations in the country.
He indicated that among the most relevant cases is the arrest of Wellington Yohan Cuello in Barahona, under arrest warrant No. 2024-AJ0016919 for charges of physical assault.
“During his arrest, authorities seized two portions of what is presumed to be crack cocaine and 48,565 Dominican pesos in cash, which could link him to broader criminal networks,” reads a statement.
The Police He added that another significant arrest in Barahona was that of Jorge Leodyn Montero Méndez, who was found with a portion of marijuana, a cell phone, a knife and a measuring tape, suggesting his possible participation in micro-trafficking.
In San Cristóbal, she said she was detained Karina Estriñan for violation of Law 137-03 on Illicit Migrant Trafficking and Law 631-03 on Weapons Control, reflecting the complexity of criminal networks in the area.
Also in San Cristóbal, they arrested Luis Miguel Robles, alias “Chulín”, in possession of 55 portions of cocaine, 11 portions of crack, 8 portions of plant material presumably marijuana and a mobile phone, suggesting his role as a distributor in local drug trafficking.
He added that in Elías Piña, Jason Adames He was surprised while traveling on horseback with 450 packs of cigarettes in two bags, evidencing the ingenious smuggling methods in border areas.
“This operation reaffirms DICRIM’s commitment to citizen security and the fight against organized crime in its different forms,” he concluded.
