Sixth repatriation flight from Lebanon arrives with 212 passengers

The sixth flight of Operation Raízes do Cedro, with 212 passengers rescued from Lebanon, landed today (19) at 7:15 am at the São Paulo Air Base, in Guarulhos (SP). There are now more than 1,300 people, including Brazilians and Lebanese relatives of Brazilians, brought by the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), who fled the conflict between Israel and the Hezbollah group. Around three thousand people have asked to come to Brazil since the war between Israel and Hamas extended into Lebanese territory at the beginning of the month.

Operation Raízes do Cedro has so far repatriated a total of 1,317 passengers, including 242 children, 40 babies, 138 elderly people, 12 pregnant women, 101 people with some health complication and 12 people with disabilities, in addition to 15 domestic animals.

According to the agreement between Itamaraty and the Lebanese government, women, children, elderly people and Brazilians who are not residents of Lebanon are given priority on the boarding lists. Since October 4, the start of the rescue operation, FAB has been making daily flights between Brazil and Lebanon, with a refueling stop in Lisbon, Portugal.
