Invías restarts banking recovery works on the island of San Andrés

Through a contract worth $7.2 billion, the National Highway Institute, Invías, restarts work to respond to the emergency that occurs on the Circunvalar road, Sound Bay sector, in the San Andrés archipelago.

The works carried out consist of the construction of walls, fills, bases, subbases and paving with which the aim is to recover the bank, mitigate trafficability problems and prevent the coastal scour that the island presents as a consequence of the current emergency. . For this, the machinery is already ready in the area.

“Throughout the year we have been accompanying the communities of the Sound Bay sector and today, after the commitments of the Government with the inhabitants who reside in the area of ​​influence of the works, we reactivate the works that will allow better walkability in the area. archipelago”noted the Technical and Structuring Director of Invías, Mauricio Céspedes Solano.

It should be noted that although the aforementioned contract had been signed in April 2024, was suspended because the community, as a result of some commitments that were pending of compliance by the Government, did not allow the work to be carried out.

However, the Invías managed to sign an agreement with the San Andres Government, in which the latter committed to complying with the community’s demands, which today allows the resumption of the
works.

Although it is true that the current emergency that the Entity is attending to is located in the same Sound Bay sector of Circunvalar Avenue, these activities are different from those carried out three years ago.
