Santo Domingo.-One person died after a confrontation between Haitians and police officers in Bávaro, La Altagracia province, according to unofficial information.
According to preliminary information, the causes of the confrontation were when a group of Haitians mistook a Preventive Police convoy for Immigration agents and began to attack them with stones and bottles.
The dead person was identified as Jems Joacin, a 49-year-old Haitian, who was found lying on the pavement.
Joacin’s cause of death was due to a gunshot wound to the left thorax, with entry in the third intercostal space and exit in the sixth intercostal space, according to the medical examiner, Polanco Guzmán.
