Petrobras and Vale signed this Friday (18) an agreement to supply products within the scope of the decarbonization agenda, which includes the use of Diesel R in vehicles in the mining sector.
The document foresees low-carbon business opportunities, such as co-processed diesel with renewable content and natural gas.
Currently, Diesel R, manufactured by Petrobras, is already used to fuel a locomotive on the railway route from Espírito Santo to Minas Gerais; in addition to a truck with a capacity of 214 tons, which operates at the Fábrica Nova mine, in Complexo Mariana (MG).
This is the first sale of co-processed diesel with renewable content, produced from the co-processing of petroleum derivatives with vegetable raw materials. Diesel B R5 has 14% biodiesel, a mandatory mixture, resulting in a fuel with 18.3% sustainable content.
The president of Petrobras, Magda Chambriard, highlights that the agreement “is another achievement of Petrobras’ objective of improving the company’s production capacity and logistics structure, to deliver greener products”, according to a statement released by the state-owned company.
Vale’s president, Gustavo Pimenta, said that the company is also committed to promoting “the decarbonization of its operations and offering solutions to reduce its customers’ emissions, thus taking advantage of Brazil’s competitive advantage in renewable fuels. ”
