SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- The Cuban singer-songwriter Carlos Varela He has previewed a fragment of his next song that promises to be another musical success and a cry for the critical situation that the Island is going through.

With the title “Elefantes”, Varela has presented on his social networks the song that is already in production, as seen in the video fragments he shared through instagram.

‘Working on the song’Elephants‘from my new album,” he wrote at the bottom of a video in a post on that social network.

In a short reel you can hear repeating “There is no one who can put up with this,” which although it may be little, sheds much of what could be an anthem for the freedom of Cuba and the desperation that overwhelms the citizens who are now immersed in prolonged blackouts. Its theme suggests a criticism against the Castro system, on the verge of collapse.

The Cuban composer, who has left iconic songs such as “The Fair of the Fools” or “The Woodsman Without a Forest,” gave another fragment of a song in March where he once again sang about the freedom of Cuba, with the announcement of a song that It was in the context of the protests that broke out that month in some parts of the country.

Alluding to a past time and “old stories,” Varela let out a veiled criticism of the leaders’ repeated and worn-out speeches.

In his song, the lyrical subject, tired of the promises coming from a loudspeaker, in reference to the same pamphlet pronouncements of Cuban officials, repeated that he will be free.

The ghosts of the tables
They still pray for a better day,
no need for a church
to find your voice.
I don’t like promises
that come from a speaker
and although I don’t go to church
I swear to God
that I am going to be free
like the wind.
Don’t give it any more thought,
your time has passed,
like your old story.

Although it was just a demo of the song, thousands of people reacted to the fragment and applauded Varela. “You are a genius, I am proud to have a Cuban Carlos Varela, I only hope to be able to see you in concert very soon,” commented one Internet user.

His message was added to the support of other artists who have raised their voices for Cuba and have shown their solidarity with the Cubans who came out this weekend to protest against the mismanagement of Miguel Díaz-Canel’s government.
