The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, and the executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewage (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, inaugurated this Wednesday the Cabo Rojo aqueduct, Pedernales province, at a cost of RD$1,012,500,000 million pesos.
«This work is fundamental for the growth and development of Pedernales and the entire South. In the case of water, we have invested three and a half times more than previous governments and that impacts the quality of life of the population, which is what we seek for our people,” Abinader stated.
For his part, Arnaud said that the aqueduct will benefit eight thousand rooms for the tourist area, meeting all quality standards, as promised by President Luis Abinader.
«This aqueduct is an example of the commitment of the Dominican government to the tourism sector. It is worth noting that the work was executed with funds from the State’s National Budget, that is, with money from internal collections, which demonstrates the quality of the spending and the permanent support for this important sector,” he stated.
In that sense, the executive director of INAPA explained that the Cabo Rojo aqueduct has an intake work, which is equipped with 12 fields of wells with turbine-type electric pumps of 350 gallons per minute and 60 horsepower.
He highlighted that it has a regulatory tank of 1,320,850 gallons.
The official highlighted that 26,067 linear meters of pipes were placed for the distribution of drinking water, as well as 20,500 meters of adduction lines, with the objective of providing water in quantity, quality and pressure to supply the tourist area and the population in general.
