The president of the National Federation of Motoconchistas (Fenamoto), Oscar Almánzarconsidered viable the collection of tax from 1,200 pesos to bikers as contemplated in the reform fiscal, but it conditions it on the sector being included in the social aid offered by the Government.
He indicated that the reform affectto the entire country and that the motoconquistas will not be the exception, so they are willing to discuss the issue with the importers and distributors of motorcyclesbut he believes that assuming the tax it wouldn’t be a problem.
He reported that since 2004 there has been no increase taxes to the bikers They only pay 500 pesos for the plate, but they do not renew like cars, SUVs, buses, trucks and other types of vehicles.
“Of course we have ability of payit’s a tax and since 2004 there had not been an increase in motorcycles. Those are 20 years that have the same tax and we don’t see them as bad. “It is feasible to pay 1,200 pesos a year for the renewal of the license plate,” said Almánzar.
Currently there are around 350,000 motoconchistas throughout the country, Almánzar reported, but that only about 10,000 receive one thousand pesos of subsidies of the Government.
He argued that if each motoconchista is going to be charged 1,200 pesos, the Government should increase the fuel subsidy and include them in social plans such as electricity bonus, Supérate and other benefits.
