The work required an investment of S/160 million, an amount that also involved improving the efficiency and safety of the units. This infrastructure will increase production of gasoline with a low sulfur content by 20%, marking a milestone in the production of cleaner and more efficient fuels in Peru.

“This achievement is the result of 12 months of meticulous preparation and more than 480,000 man hours of work, which allowed the renovation of our units, with a focus on sustainability and efficiency. With this expansion, we guarantee the supply of quality fuels safely in the country, and the exposure to importing gasoline is reduced. In this way, we ratify our commitment to the productive development of the country,” said Julián de la Calle, Director of Refining at Repsol Peru.

The Vice Minister of Hydrocarbons, Iris Cárdenas Pino, participated in the event, who inaugurated the expansion and also visited the La Pampilla Refinery with her technical team.

During the expansion process, 400 people worked simultaneously, 62,000 hours of safety training were accumulated and, in addition, the goal of zero accidents was achieved.

This project also included the scheduled maintenance of several production units at the La Pampilla Refinery, which constitutes the largest multi-year maintenance stoppage in its history. At the same time, and thanks to detailed planning of fuel acquisition and inventory management, supply to the market was guaranteed.
