Salhuana to Santiváñez for skidding on the Quispe Palomino: "The right thing" is to recognize the mistake

He asks him to apologize. The president of Congress, Eduardo Salhuana, pointed out that the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñez, should “recognize” that he made “a mistake” by pointing out that the captured Iván Quispe Palomino was a leader of the remaining Shining Path terrorists, led by the Quispe Palomino brothers.

“It can be a mistake. Anyone can make it. The important thing is to clarify it, immediately, so as not to generate expectations that do not correspond…Personally I believe, and I have always said it to you, that we can make mistakes; we are not infallible; and the right thing to do is recognize that there is a mistake, and apologize to the citizens, and continue working,” Salhuana said at a press conference in Parliament.

As recalled, last Wednesday, the head of the Interior assured that the captured Iván Quispe Palomino was an important Shining Path leader, when he is no longer one.

On that day, the minister announced with great fanfare, in the morning hours, on TVPerú, that the Police had captured Iván Quispe Palomino, nothing more and nothing less than “second command of the Communist Party of Peru Sendero Luminoso” in the Vraem.

“It is extremely important for me to inform Peru of this,” he said between the rush and the need to have a media victory against the advance of crime in the country.

He also dared to attribute the capture to the “success” of the state of emergency, since he was arrested in San Juan de Lurigancho. But what Juan José Santiváñez did not realize was that nothing he had said was true.

On the other hand, as a corollary to this story, Iván Quispe’s relatives have declared to the media that they plan to denounce the head of the Interior for the mistake committed against him.
