Camex surcharges Asian non-surgical gloves for five years

For the next five years, non-surgical gloves from China, Malaysia and Thailand will pay more to enter Brazil. Since February, non-surgical gloves from these countries pay surcharge between US$ 1.86 and US$ 33.52 per thousand units imported. Now, Gecex/Camex has made the tariff antidumping definitive. This equipment is used in dentistry, veterinary and medical procedures.

The application of the law antidumping in February had been provisional, because preliminary analyzes had confirmed the existence of dumping (production below cost price) and losses to Brazilian producers. According to the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic), investigations confirmed the unfair commercial practice.

Authorized by the World Trade Organization (WTO), the tariff antidumping It allows a country to surcharge products if production is found to be below cost and threatens national producers who are unable to compete with the imported product.

Provisional punishments

At this Thursday’s meeting (17), Gecex/Camex applied four measures antidumping provisional. Metal sheets from Chinese companies will pay surcharges of US$257.97 to US$341.28 per ton imported. Nebulizers from China will pay surcharges of $0.83 to $2.62 per unit purchased.

Titanium dioxide pigments, of the rutile type (white pigment for paints, cosmetics and foods) produced in China will pay from US$577.33 to US$1,772.69 per ton imported. Polyester fibers from China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand will face surcharges of between US$68.32 and US$397.04 per ton imported.

In all cases, the antidumping provisional period is valid for up to six months. THE antidumping The provisional measure began to be used more frequently by the Brazilian government this year, as a way of tightening the crackdown on unfair trade and increasing protection for national industry.
