Amid criticism of his management, the Minister of the Interior, Juan José Santiváñezannounced the capture of Ivan Quispe Palomino as a remnant of the Shining Path terrorist group, however, this statement is completely unrelated to reality. Quispe Palomino is a free man, who has served the sentence imposed by the Judiciary and is even an informant for the Dircote.
This provoked a wave of criticism from experts from the period of political violence in Peru towards the head of the Interior, as they described that Palomino’s capture has been used as part of a psychosocial plan to improve public opinion about Santiváñez’s management.
