MIAMI, United States. – The British singer Liam Payne, former member of the band One Direction, died abruptly this Wednesday, October 16, after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Palermo sector, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The news left his fans and followers around the world shocked.
The tragedy occurred at the Casa Sur Palermo hotel, where Payne, 31, had been staying since October 13. According to preliminary reports, the Emergency Medical Care System (SAME) was alerted at 5:04 p.m. a call to 911that the young man, presumably under the influence of alcohol and drugs, was having a crisis in his room.
“We have a guest who is overwhelmed with drugs and is breaking up the entire room,” said the man who was identified by the Argentine press as Esteban Grazzie.
“We need someone to be sent to us urgently, because, well, I don’t know if the guest’s life is at risk. He is in a room that has a balcony and, well, we are a little afraid that he will do something that puts his life at risk,” Grazzie also requested.
Unfortunately, upon arriving at the scene seven minutes later, the doctors found that the singer had fallen from the balcony of his room, on the third floor, and had died.
“He had very serious injuries, incompatible with life,” explained Alberto Crescenti, director of SAME, who added that there was no possibility of resuscitation. Payne would have suffered a fracture at the base of his skull after falling from a height of 13 or 14 meters, which caused his immediate death.
Argentine authorities reported that they are investigating the exact circumstances of the fall, and that they hope that the results of the autopsy will provide more details.
Payne’s death has generated a torrent of condolence messages on social media. MTV Latin America He expressed his pain on the social network: “Our hearts are absolutely broken and we wish a lot of light and strength to his family and loved ones at this time.”
