Flints. – President Luis Abinader assured this Wednesday that in the tax reform The Government will act as it always has, seeking the greatest consensus.
«Let the dialogue and consensus continue and we will seek reform. Gentlemen, I would like not to do it and be very nice, but it would not be a responsible or patriotic task,” he told the press after cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the second phase of the Port Cabo Rojo facilities and the reception of the third cruise ship with more than 3,000 cruise passengers.
The president expressed that everyone agrees on the need for reform and that it is even in the National Development Strategy. «It has been our turn to do it with great responsibility. “No one would want to make a reform, no one would want to do it, it’s up to us and we are assuming that responsibility.”
In that same order, he stated that it is a responsibility that he has assumed for the country and was confident that together with all Dominicans “we are going to do well and the economy is going to continue growing and we are going to continue providing social aid and also attend to to those who need it most.
He recalled that in the proposal made by the economic team, it was always said that it was to be discussed in Congress. “Since yesterday it has already been discussed, they will continue today, public hearings will continue tomorrow and if it has to continue another day it will be done.”
The president said that he is promoting this reform even though many of those incomes will not be seen in this Government, but he insisted that he has to respect the acquired right of many of the exemptions and incentives that worked well for many years.
He maintained that all exemptions and incentives are being reviewed and that many of them, such as tourism, are already developing very well. He also added that it will be analyzed with each sector so that the development of the country continues.
In the case of Pedernales, he clarified that incentives are not cut because it is a province that also has border development and cited that, for example, each project has acquired rights for 15 years and that will be respected.
When responding to concerns from the press about cinema, President Abinader stated that talks are being held to see what solution is sought and the best way in which it can continue to be supported.
