The most recent edition of Panorama Covid-19 shows a drop in six of the seven disease indicators. The data, released on Tuesday night (15), refers to week 40 (from 9/29 to 10/5).
The only indicator that registered an increase refers to the positivity rate of RT-PCR tests carried out in the private laboratory network (Dasa): an increase of 41% in the first days of October, in relation to tests collected between the 1st and 7th of September (week 36).
According to the State Department of Health of Rio de Janeiro, the positivity rate for the same type of test carried out in the public network (Lacen) fell by 31% in the same comparison period. In relation to rapid antigen tests, there was a 23% drop in the positivity of Lacen samples and a 2% drop in samples from the private Dasa network.
The samples arriving at Lacen for viral panel analysis point to a decreasing trend in total positivity for all respiratory viruses, which has been happening since the end of August. Positivity for SARS-Cov2 shows a significant decrease from 11.06% in the first week of September to 6.88% in the first week of October.
The number of requests for beds for people with Flu Syndrome also shows a constant drop in the comparison period.
Care at 24-hour Emergency Care Units (UPAs) in the state of Rio maintains a stable trend, with a decrease of 2% and 3% for adults and children, respectively.
Early indicators – positivity rate, attendance at UPAs and number of bed requests – serve to signal an increase in cases even before the increase detected in information systems.
Therefore, monitoring is essential for SES preparation actions to combat the growth of the disease and guidance for reinforcing prevention and control measures.
Panorama Covid-19 uses as a data source the Influenza Epidemiological Surveillance Information System, the State Regulation System (SER), the Own System of UPAs in the state of Rio and the Laboratory Sample Management Information System, where The results of tests carried out by the National Public Health Laboratory (Lacen-RJ) and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) are recorded. Data sent via the Dasa network in private laboratories are also recorded.
