Fourteen new articles contemplate the Reform Project of the Popular Communication Law, which was approved in the first discussion by the plenary session of the National Assembly, according to representative Ricardo González.
The parliamentarian expressed that in the legal instrument, 29 articles are also modified, which respond to the concerns that popular communicators have been raising.
“The lack of regulation in key aspects of the Law, the need to create structures that strengthen the self-management and self-generation of resources, as well as the operation of alternative and community media,” are some of the provisions contemplated in the draft standard, the parliamentarian said.
In his opinion, the socio-political exercise of popular leaders, who have been fighting in their community and communal territories, is strengthened”, while at the same time the premise of Commander Hugo Chávez Frías, of transferring all power to the people, is rescued.
He assures that the reform also allows us to strengthen a fundamental human right, such as freedom of expression and the right to be informed, which are contemplated in the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, explained the parliamentarian.
He affirmed that the “extinct media dictatorship” intends to silence the Bolivarian revolution again, for which he pointed out that popular communication is essential.
“I take advantage of this moment to point out that it is popular communication that is standing up for the Palestinian people, it is what is denouncing from the hands of young people, women, mothers, people without any experience in journalism, they are the ones “They are confronting the large commercial chains that silence the massacre that occurs in Gaza,” he said.
He even recalled that the days in which the so-called “post-electoral violence” broke out, community radio stations were the target of attacks, which demonstrates their importance in defending the truth.
