At 11:59 p.m. this Tuesday, October 15, registration closes for those seeking to head the CNDH. Once this stage is exhausted, the Human Rights and Justice commissions of the Upper House will verify that the information received accredits the requirements, and on October 21, 2024, they will publish in the Senate Parliamentary Gazette the list of candidates who have met the eligibility requirements.
On October 22, the commissions will hold an open parliament to carry out a “broad audit” with social organizations, public and private organizations, as well as promoters or defenders of human rights, victims and groups to issue an opinion on the person who should head the CNDH.
On October 24, the candidates will appear before the joint committees starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Senate facilities. Senators will participate in these meetings, who will be able to ask questions to the candidates; Civil organizations and academic institutions may also participate through emails.
