Given the strike of health workers and the strike announced by medical professionals, the Ombudsman’s Office, through the Santa Cruz Ombudsman Delegation, convened a dialogue table with the sector.
“As the Ombudsman’s Office, this is an issue that worries us greatly, and we are carrying out verifications at second-level hospitals, to guarantee that it is being treated in the emergency units; but also, We are calling for a dialogue table for tomorrow (Wednesday) with medical professionals and on Thursday with health workers,” reported the Departmental Ombudsman delegate of Santa Cruz, Sheila Gómez Santivañez, in contact with the media.
The protest measure of the Santa Cruz Health Workers Union Federation began this day in demand of the payment of salaries, replacement of items and contracts for personnel.
On the other hand, the Federation of Unions of Medical Branches of Public Health (Fesirmes), which will begin a 24-hour strike starting Thursday in health centers at the three levels of care, demands the payment of salaries, improvement of infrastructure and purchase of medicines.
In this context, and despite the fact that the Union Federation of Departmental Health Workers of Santa Cruz and the Federation of Unions of Medical Branches of Public Health – Fesirmes, have similar demands, the defense authority clarified the need to hold a dialogue table by separate.
“The demands are similar, but the instances that must be addressed are different; In that sense, we are calling on the pertinent authorities to provide attention and a solution to the conflict,” said Gómez.
At the moment, the team from the Santa Cruz Ombudsman Delegation formalized the call to the dialogue table and is awaiting a response from the health sector. However, it is planned to continue with the verifications as long as the strike lasts, in order to guarantee attention to the population through the emergency units.
