Lightning caused fire in PDVSA oil tank

Lightning caused fire in PDVSA oil tank

Early this Tuesday morning a fire broke out in a tank located in the yard of PDVSA Las Salinas, Cabimas municipality, in the state of Zulia.

General Mufid Houmeidan, commander of the Cabimas Fire Department, confirmed the incident through his social networks.

“We have a fire in a 75 thousand barrel storage tank,” the official reported through a video where the flames can be seen in the background.

Likewise, he indicated that “strategies are applied to inject foam under the surface to be able to extinguish it.”

However, despite the fire, the commander added that “the evacuation of the city is not necessary, this is confined here.”

Houmeidan asked the residents of Cabimas to remain calm because they are attending to the contingency together with the PDVSA firefighters.

The lightning that caused the fire arose during a prolonged downpour recorded on the Eastern Coast of the Lake early this Tuesday.
